Bridger #2 Dogless
The Bridger #2 Dogless Trap is a very useful and popular trap for many trappers targeting medium size critters. The dogless design is a fairly new option offered by Bridger, and the trap comes stock with a rectangle shaped pan measuring 8.244 square inches. The Expand-A-Pan bolt on replacement pan increases the surface area to 161% of the original pan size, or 13.242 square inches, a real help to eliminate those trap pattern misses. Bridger #2 Dog Type
The Bridger #2 Dog Type trap has taken thousands of animals for a number of years, and has been one of those industry standard pieces of equipment for trappers. The Bridger #2 dog on comes with a single blade pan measuring 4.476 square inches. Expand-A-Pan converted this design to a dual leg pan support, and includes a new, longer #10 bolt, nut, and spacers for mounting the Expand-A-Pan to the existing pan base tabs on the trap. The wider base allows flexibility to select your desired pan tension and adds stability to the pan. The Expand-A-Pan increases the pan surface area to 12.763 square inches, or 285% of the original surface area, giving your trap dramatically more kill area and resulting in more fur in your shed. Bridger #3 Dogless
The Bridger #3 Dogless trap is the trap of choice for us here at Expand-A-Pan. This trap is relatively new to the market, and is loaded with useful functions. It is the main trap that we run, and when modified with an Expand-A-Pan, had taken everything from coons to coyotes, beaver to fox, and most everything in between on our trap line. The Bridger #3 Dogless carries an original pan measuring 9.629 square inches, but by replacing it with an Expand-A-Pan, the surface area of the pan is increased 197% to 18.240 square inches. Replacement is as simple as removing the pan bolt, discarding the stock pan, and bolting the Expand-A-Pan back in it’s place with the original pan bolt. This is a quick and easy solution to make an already good trap much better. Expand-A-Pan……Go Big Or Go Home!
Bridger #3 Dog Type
The Bridger #3 Dog Type Trap is one of the standard, go to traps for many, many trappers across the land. The trap comes stock with a single blade pan that measures 6.178 square inches. During Expand-A-Pan’s design phase of this pan, we widened the pan legs to increase the stability of the pan and increased the surface area by 259% to 16.010 square inches. Because we widened the dual pan legs, the trapper has greater flexibility in setting their desired pan tension, and we provide the new #10 bolt, nut, and spacers required to easily and quickly bolt this pan onto your trap. We believe that your catch will increase when you use an Expand-A-Pan for the Bridger #3 Dog type trap. Expand-A-Pan……Go Big Or Go Home!
The CDR is where it all began for Expand-A-Pan. We bought a dozen of these traps several years ago for use in beaver and bobcat work, but noticed countless instances of tracks inside the huge jaw spread, but not on the small, 7.581 square inch pan. Our bolt on Expand-A-Pan fills the inside jaw spread and pushes the kill area of the pan to 29.710 square inches, a staggering 392% of the original, stock pan. Our “inside the jaw spread” misses were all but eliminated after we installed the new Expand-A-Pans. The CDR properly modified with an Expand-A-Pan is bad news for bobcats and any critter that steps inside this huge trap. Expand-A-Pan……Go Big Or Go Home!
Model # CDR7.5
The Duke #4 trap is an economical solution to a full size, 4-coil trap, and widely used in many areas. Legend has it this trap was originally designed to catch dingo in Australia, but it has also gained its place in the American fur shed as well. The stock Duke #4 trap comes with a single blade pan that measures only 6.336 square inches. While designing the Expand-A-Pan for the Duke #4, we found that the single blade design of the original, stock pan was not stable and was difficult to adjust pan tension on. The Expand-A-Pan widens the pan base with a dual pan leg setup, and we include the required #8 bolt, nut, and spacers necessary for easy installation. This wider pan base with the dual leg system increases the pan’s stability and the flexibility in setting desired pan tensions. The Expand-A-Pan for the Duke #4 measures 16.123 square inches and is 254% the size of the original stock pan, resulting in a much more functional system for catching a variety of animals. Model # MB450WO
Model # MB650WO
The MB 550 is currently one of America’s most popular traps. The cast iron jaws and Paws-I-Trip pan system make it a very wise choice when trapping anything from coon to coyotes. Because of the way the pan attaches around the spring keeper pin, the trap would have had to be completely disassembled for the installation of a traditional Expand-A-Pan. Also, because the 550’s pan system is already smooth from the factory, Expand-A-Pan elected to build a weld-on pan for this trap. (Rivet on models coming soon.) The Expand-A-Pan weld-on pan measures 11.331 square inches, a whopping 219% increase from the MB 550’s stock pan, which measures only 5.171 square inches. Add Expand-A-Pans to your MB 550’s and watch your catch increase. Expand-A-Pan….Go Big Or Go Home!
The Montana #3 trap (same dimensions as the old Montgomery #3) is very popular with the live market coyote men across the country. The 4 coil spring system, rolled steel jaws, and dogless pan design make this trap ideal for strong holding power while keeping foot damage to a minimum. What this trap is lacking, however, is an adequate kill area for the pan, with the stock pan measuring a meager 5.344 square inches. To combat this, most modern wolfers using this trap have adopted the use of wire screen pan covers for use with the Montana #3, but wire screen can be difficult to find and to cut, and can be challenging to lay properly over the pan in the set. Expand-A-Pan fixes this problem, as our weld-on pan for this trap measures 16.688 square inches, or 312% the area of the stock pan and eliminates the necessity of the wire screen. Sleepy Creek #3
The Sleepy Creek #3 is perhaps the most widely used long spring trap on today’s market. The trap beds super easy and is versatile on the species of animal it will catch. One drawback we found with this trap was the very small stock pan, which measures only 5.321 square inches. We really fill up the jaws of this trap, and the Expand-A-Pan replacement, bolt on model measures 16.540 square inches, 311% the area of the stock pan! If you are a long spring trapper, install an Expand-A-Pan on a Sleepy Creek #3 and watch your catch numbers go up. Expand-A-Pan……Go Big Or Go Home!
The TS-85 is a serious trap for beaver and large animal trapping. The jaws and size of this trap are massive! We, here at Expand-A-Pan, have used the TS-85 to catch wary beaver and otter in shallow, under water trail sets, and the huge 33.106 square inch bolt on Expand-A-Pan makes an easy target for an animal’s foot. That is 254% the size of the original, stock TS-85 pan that only measured 14.329 square inches. Expand-A-Pans on a TS-85 are a deadly combination. Expand-A-Pan……Go Big Or Go Home!
The Expand-A-Pan Lure Holders were designed for use at flat sets where we were having issues with our lure and bait getting washed by the rain or baked by the sun. The Lure Holder shields and protects your lure and bait from the sun and rain, doubling or tripling the life of your lure in inclimate conditions. With an open front and back design, the scents of your lure and bait are still free to get out on the wind, but they are protected from the elements. With a handy 10” stake built into the design, they are easy to install anywhere that you can push or hammer the stake down, but difficult for an animal to grab and steal your bait, causing him to spend more time at your set. For even more eye appeal, try zip tying fur, wool, or feathers on the outside of your Expand-A-Pan Lure Holders (if legal in your area). Catch his nose with the inside of the Lure Holder and his eye with the outside, and add valuable days of usefulness to your expensive lure by not allowing it to get washed or baked.
The original Expand-A-Pan Snare Chaser. The Snare Chaser was designed with bad coyotes in mind. One day while snaring for live market coyotes, I caught a coyote on a 14 foot snare in an open grass field. That meant that the coyote had 28 feet to roam on the end of the snare, and as I’d approach him with a head catcher on one side of the 28 foot circle, he would dart to the opposite side, and so on. The episode, I’m sure, looked like a circus act, with the coyote being the star. That’s where the idea for the Snare Chaser was born. The 4 ½ foot Snare Chaser quickly and effortlessly slips around the snare cable where ever the snare is anchored into the ground, and slides down the cable (or chases) towards the animal , decreasing the animal’s mobility with every inch, until the animal is safely pinned to the ground and ready for release from the snare. The Snare Chaser keeps you and the animal safe, and makes animal removal from snares a cinch. The inverted “w” handle doubles as a reaching pole / grapple hook for retrieving deep water body grips, snares, or traps…or anything that is just plain hard to reach. We use our Snare Chaser daily, and it makes life on the trap line so much easier!
The Expand-A-Pan Ugly Drag. Motivated by seeing a lack of aggressive, manageable drags currently on the market, we decided to create an individualized, aggressive drag for our own use. We found that by adding an extra tooth to this unique drag, it became much more aggressive and grabs and digs in on 6 different geometric planes. After we created a 6 tooth aggressive drag, we felt that we had a better product than the common 2 tooth drag that we were seeing on the market, and we decided to customize the drag and cut our initials into the steel chain deflector on the bottom. As a joke, Bailey later cut out a drag with the word “UGLY” on the bottom, gave it to me, and laughing said this was a better reflection of me than the initials were. After showing the Ugly Drags superior grabbing, stopping, and locking up power, several of our trapping buddies said the drag worked so well that it was “UGLY” how quick it would stop a coyote. We decided to keep the name, and we expect you to find your critter not far away from the set location when you attach an Expand-A-Pan Ugly Drag to you trap. These drags are built heavy to last for a lifetime of use. We recommend using at least 8 feet of #3 quality chain with a couple of swivels. When this drag bites in, the only difference than if the trap was staked down is that your set will not be destroyed and you saved your energy of driving anchors.
Do Not Touch! Sign
Do Not Touch Anything In My Fur Shed. This sign is pretty much self explanatory. The image of a .44 magnum handgun is the exclamation point at the end of this statement. Get your point across un-mistakable by hanging this sign in a prominent location!
Here is another one of those signs that do not need much of a description. The twin pistols and the text “We Don’t Dial 911” pretty much gets the point across. Display this sign and let the bad guys know that you mean business!
Trapper Door Bell
Get a lot of laughs from your buddies when they see your new Trapper Door Bell Sign. The sign is approximately 12” in diameter, with an image of an open trap in the center. The wrapped text on the outside says “Trapper’s Doorbell, Push Button, We’ll Hear You”. This sign is a great addition to the fur shed, front porch, man cave, or anywhere a trapper wants it to be seen.
In the patina process, we cut this beautiful picture of a bobcat into 16 gauge mild steel, and grind every square inch until the sign is pure steel and all of the blue, protective coatings of the sheet steel are removed. At this point we apply a copper coating to the cat, and a pewter coating to the trap. The copper adheres to the steel and creates a shiny, cooper coating, and the pewter does the same around the image of the trap but creates a much darker finish. After the copper and pewter bind to the steel, the piece is treated with an automotive clear coat, locking in the natural beauty and sparkle of the metals. We can create patinas for any of the metal art we produce. The process takes much more time and the patina materials that we use are expensive, but if your are looking for a truly unique, very high quality piece of art work with a trapping flavor, we have you covered with our Patina Bobcat Artwork.
